President Donald Trump is expected to travel to at least 10 states in the final four weeks of the campaign, according to a senior White House official and another person with direct knowledge of the president’s travel schedule.
The blitz includes traditional Senate battlegrounds — Michigan, North Carolina and Georgia — as well as red states the president won by double-digits in 2024: Texas, Iowa, Alaska, Ohio and Kansas. He’s also expected to travel to Montana and Pennsylvania, which have competitive House races, said the people, who were granted anonymity to preview Trump’s travel plans.
“Worst-case scenario is if you don't hit a place where it needs to be shored up, and three weeks down the line, you're just scrambling to travel,” the senior White House official said.
Trump's plans include one big swing that will take him from Washington to Montana to Alaska to Las Vegas to Arizona to Texas, before returning home, the people said, with that trip expected in about two weeks.
He will hit Texas, Ohio and Georgia twice each. The only battleground Trump has no plans to visit at this point is Maine, where GOP Sen. Susan Collins is fighting off a challenge from Democrat Troy Jackson.
The list of states could still change, the two people said.
"It's dependent on how some of the polling moves the next couple of weeks. We're always flexible with our movements,” the senior White House official said.
Collins is the only incumbent Republican senator in a state former Vice President Kamala Harris won in 2024.Trump’s Texas return is next Wednesday for a rally in San Antonio, after Michigan Republicans initially expected the president to visit their state that same day. But the Michigan trip never materialized.
The president has increased his campaign travel in the final stretch of the midterms. He is set to rally supporters in Alabama Friday night and will then head to Ohio on Saturday, before a trip to Nebraska on Monday.
