President Donald Trump is expected to host German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the White House in early March, according to information obtained by the Axel Springer Global Reporters Network.
This will be the German leader's third visit to the White House and it comes amid heightened transatlantic tensions, driven most recently by Trump's claims over Greenland.
Merz made his first visit in June and urged Trump to put more pressure on Russia to end its war in Ukraine. He returned in mid-August, joining European heads of state and government after Trump held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
The White Housed did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio is expected to travel to Germany next week for the Munich Security Conference.
